Slow Sunday

A few finishes at the end of the week:
I must have been in a red/brown mood when I made these Temecula Circa 2016 pinwheels.

Mr. Snow "O" looks much better with eyes!

My August OMG--Temecula Summer Sampler.
This was also on my Finish-A-Long list--two in one--yay!
(The quilt is pinned on what was once my garden shed until the three men in my life filled it with their stuff. Check out those plastic curtains--lol!)

You know what I always say--it's not finished without a label!

I used a pantograph to do the quilting and bound it with the same fabric as the border--keeping it simple.
I decided that I needed a color break between the round three log cabin blocks and the round four star blocks on my Gwennie Inspired Medallion.
I couldn't just add another small border because it would throw off the math for round four, so I glued this orange flange in place before sewing round four to the medallion.

The flange was a little wide, so I appliqued it down so it wouldn't be a floppy flange.
I've been thinking for a while that I should repeat the hexie flowers and fill up those spaces on the log cabins, so I've been making half flowers to fit that area.
Only 14 more to stitch in place today!

Too Many Works in Progress Wednesday

I have so many unfinished projects to work on, some days I don't know where to start.
Of course, every day I need to make one of the 365 Challenge blocks--these are from last week.

I don't think that I've already confessed to adding these beautiful yarn dyed woven fabrics to my stash last week. I may have need to get some yardage of a few of them when I'm at Colorz on Friday.

I was pretty good at keeping up with the Temecula Patchwork Olympics last week....

...and ended up with another quilt top to add to the UFO bin....

...and also got caught up on the Circa 2016 blocks.
We have been doing three blocks the last two weeks.

Another Blackbird Gathering block finished....

and some Maverick Stars for my Gwennie Inspired Medallion. I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one using these on round four!
I'm afraid my Maverick Stars aren't as maverick as they should be, but I'm trying to be less up-tight--really!

There were a couple 6" blocks included in this week's 365 Challenge grouping--a nice change-up.

I'm not quite done stitching this months Buttermilk Basin Let It Snow block, but it should be finished tonight.

I do have a complete finish--quilted, bound and labeled!
Little Wooly Baskets is on my 2016 Finish A Long list, so I'm happy to check it off the list.
Now to get back to some of those other projects!

Sunday Stitching

I can finally check another UFO off of my 2016 Finish-A-Long Q3 list:
the Primitive Gatherings Flower Garden Crazy Mat is complete!

I've also been able to stay on top of the Front Porch SAL and can't wait to find out what we work on next over at Humble Quilts on Monday.

This is going to be one big quilt!
I love how fun and summery the blocks look.

I have the Primitive Gatherings Summer Garden Crazy mat all fused and ready for some Slow Sunday Stitching--maybe I will get it done while it's still summer!

Scrappin'

Today is Scraptastic Tuesday, and I have a new scrappy project to share.
This is the inspiration for the Temecula Patchwork Olympics.
(I borrowed the photo from the Temecula Quilt Co. blog)
That darn Temecula Quilt Company is having a Patchwork Olympics Sew Along. I could have resisted if I didn't already have all the pieces cut out and waiting to be used for something--an opportunity I just had to jump on!
The first part was to make 10-8.5" blocks--four patches from 4.5" squares.
Things go together pretty quickly when you don't have to do any cutting!
Up next was to cut 288 2.5" squares and make them into four patches.
I just happened to have a box of those all ready to go--no cutting for me!

I'm still working on making the 72-4.5" four patches, but after all the challenging blocks I've been making recently, these are kind of mindless fun.
You can see where all this is going on the TQC blog HERE. I love the quirkiness of the finished quilt and love using up my scraps even more!

And look at this bundle of awesomeness that arrived in the mail today: Grand Traverse Bay by Minick and Simpson--love it! I had pre-ordered it months ago, it was so perfect to have it arrive today--on our 47th wedding anniversary--yay! Happy Anniversary to me--lol!

August UFO Hopeful!

I think it's about time I get my little Temecula Summer Sampler top finished. I was looking for something that wouldn't take an enormous amount of time since it's getting close to the end of summer and my flower garden is in dire need of TLC.
I'm thinking a simple all over quilting design will be nice--then I can wash it and turn it into a snuggle-y throw.

I haven't posted any of these little 365 Challenge blocks for a while, but I'm pretty happy that I've managed to keep up.

I'm currently doing two projects that consist of three inch finished blocks. This "T" block is from the Temecula Circa 2016. Some blocks are more challenging than others, for sure....

....but not "crazy" challenging like some of the 365 Challenge blocks.
The little "T" is part of a 365 Challenge block.

Like I said---crazy!!!
This project has definitely been a skill builder!

Since the stitching on my Crazy Flower Garden Mat is almost complete, I figured I better get some new hand stitching prepped. It's the perfect time to stitch up some watermelons!

Round Three Gwennie Inspired Medallion QAL

I hope I'm not wearing out my welcome--three posts in three days--yeesh!

Today is the link up for the third round of the Gwennie Inspired Medallion sew along.
The theme was LOG CABINS and this is what I came up with:
I found a piece of blue that matched my blue flowers pretty closely and the light part of my log cabin blocks was a strip of Edyta Sitar Snow Birds fabric left over from a quilt back. I've used up just about all of both fabrics, so round four is going to be a challenge. I'm afraid I may be too anal to be improvisational!
The theme for round four is STARS--I'm going to have to think about that!
I finally caught up with the Temecula Circa 2016 blocks too!
