A Slight Miracle!

You suggested--I listened!
And miraculously, I found some opaque deep yellow beads at the little variety store a few miles from my home. I wasn't too optimistic that I would be able to find the right color or size of bead, so I feel pretty lucky. They even had matte black beads that will be perfect for eyes, etc. in the future. 

I'm very slowly getting the rounds attached to my mystery quilt.
(That out-most border isn't sewn yet). It takes a while to decide on color placement and to match all those seams. Lots more borders to come!
 

Slowly Catching Up...

I was able to get a little stitching done while visiting with my sister Mary this week. We spent a lot of time on her deck enjoying the beautiful weather. Mostly I was busy running errands for her (and doing a bit lot of shopping for myself, naturally!), doing laundry and a little cooking.

It took a lot of wheelchair wrestling and walker wrangling, but we even made it to Urban Growler one evening. I'm not a beer drinker, but Mary is an early investor and she gets free beer for life, so we had to go! I usually order wine or a Bloody Mary (aka Salad in a Glass), so I was happy to find that the Rhubarb Wit is very good (my sister's suggestion for me).

I haven't decided on how to finish the strawberry on the June Buttermilk Basin block.
Stacy used tiny black buttons, but since I don't have any on hand, I may do yellow French Knots.

I'm slowing catching up on some machine piecing projects.
These are last week's Temecula Summer Sampler four inch blocks.
Yesterday I found a few minutes to start assembling my Thimblecreek Mystery pieces together--I think it's going to be spectacular!

Today, after doing some catch-up cleaning around the house and maybe a little garden weeding, I hope to sit outside and work on my Temecula InstaSewAlong Doll Quilt.

I'm baaaack!

I meant to take photos of my June finish yesterday. By the time I got around to it, the rains came. Thankfully, today is very sunny!

I know it looks like I quilted circles around the four patches, but it's actually a continuous curve in the alternate blocks. Okay, too much sun....

The colors look truer in the shade.I may go back and do the continuous curve in the four patches--I didn't do it originally because I couldn't decide on a thread color. Maybe I should just use the same tan (Signature Mother Goose)?

I had enough of the little print in my stash for the backing.
It feels good to use up some of that older stuff!

The plan was to use a cheddar print for the binding, but I have become a cheddar fabric hoarder now, and couldn't bring myself to use it. It's probably for the best, since this old chunk of blue works great with the backing, and it was fun to use it on the bias.

A Week of Slow Stitching

I will be staying with my sister next week, so there will be no machine quilting or blogging.
She is recovering from a pretty serious accident and needs some help, so I will be packing up some hand work and taking a trip!

I will be taking along my June Buttermilk Basin block--ready to be appliqued.

And I will take along some little squares of fabric so I can keep up with the Temecula Sew Along on Instagram.

I'm so happy to have this week's Temecula Summer Sew Along blocks finished!

Today I will finish up the applique on this little quilt.
I couldn't resist making a version of Cheri's adorable little pattern for the Summerthyme Blog Hop--adorable!

My Talented Ladies!

We are having lots of fun at the Pinetree Patchworkers quilt show this weekend! Before I head out the door to get back the show, I wanted to brag on the wonderful quilts made by some of the very talented ladies from my Stitch Therapy group! 

There were three Simply Red quilts finished in time for the show and they all are hanging together:

 And there are five Wish Quilts hanging together--so fun to see them all in a parade!

I love that every quilt has it's own personality and that each quilter did some tweaking to the pattern to make the quilt their own. 

I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to lead the Stitch Therapy group--I feel like a proud Mom!

 This is the first part of the ThimbleCreek mystery solution. Joe is having computer issues, so the rest of the setting will have to wait. So far, I am loving it!

I just loved the scrappy-ness of the this quilt--you know I love scrappy!!

Another exquisite quilt by Kathy Munkelwitz.

It was fun to see an entire area devoted to Farmer's Wife quilts.
I especially liked the setting on this one with the alternate blocks set on point.

This was a favorite for me, because someday I plan to make one of my own--fingers crossed!
The maker was inspired by a museum quilt.

The quilting was special too.

As I was tidying up, I found this cheese box and a ruler box of half inch hexies.
 Of course, I have no idea what the plan was for them, so I'm guessing it was for Stars in the Garden. It's been on my bucket list for quite a while. We'll see how far I get this time around.....

Sophie's Garden in June

Monday was our Stitch Therapy meeting and there are lots of flowers popping up in Sophie's Garden! 

It was fun to see all the variations of one pattern
