Sunday Stitching

Not only was the shopping great at the Minnesota Quilt show, the quilts were amazing and so inspiring!
Since it's Slow Sunday Stitching, I thought I would share a few that featured hand work.
This Bird of Paradise AKA Civil War Bride quilt made me want to make another one!
There are so many humorous details...notice the grave marker where the groom should be...guarded by a squirrel!

This was my favorite block--the broderie perse was amazing!

This block was pretty funny--the dog reminds me of Santa's Little Helper from the Simpson's.

This quilt of every kind of fuchsia imaginable was like a painting--gorgeous!

This was a great wool version of Primitive Garden--makes me wish the one I'm (not) working on is not the cotton version.

This eye catching quilt is all wool.

I loved this applique quilt--similar to the Bird of Paradise

And this one--same as above but a bit brighter.
That's enough eye candy for one post--more later!

I've been in the mood to get back to some English Paper Piecing--perfect to work on during Game of Thrones.
I was going to make a few more Little Gems, but then I got sucked into another sew along with Temecula Quilt Company on Instagram.

At least I don;t have to cut any fabric--my 1.5" squares are the perfect size for the half inch papers--and the Costco calzone packages are perfect to store them!.

  5. Thanks for taking us along with you to the show ... what fabulous hand work! I love what I see of the fabrics in your calzone package. I would love to work with some smaller hexies, but I fear that my fingers wouldn't be able to handle them adequately. Do you glue baste or thread baste your hexies?

  11. Ya know, there are two things I'm trying to avoid starting: a massive applique quilt and a tiny hexagon quilt. You just kicked me in both soft spots...
Thanks for the pretties to look at, and I'll keep trying to resist.

  14. What a gorgeous CWB - the red border is so bold and wonderful! I'm a little too far along with mine to do red borders so I guess I'll have to make another too with you - lol! I love the humorous details too - fun! The dog also looks like the one in the classic Grinch who stole Christmas :0) Your hexies look yummy - I look forward to seeing that progress. Gayle's comment nails the problem with your blog! So many gorgeous projects - so little time.

  19. What a great post. I love the humour in the CWB quilt. You are right that the dog looks like Santa's Little Helper. I also love seeing your hexagons. The colours and prints you are using are really speaking to me!

  20. Thanks for the great Show and Tell. I have started ( 3 blocks) of the CWB quilt, but along way to go! I love the version of the one in the show. Lovely and the pink border is certainly different.
