Sunday Dilemma

Wow! We are already half-way through the Grandmother's Choice blocks.
Block 25 Carrie Nation's Quilt
I was thrilled to see that my first 14 blocks were posted on Barbara Brackman's website earlier this week HERE. I'm Breezy Point, by the way.
I took an updated photo of all 25 blocks today.
This week's Sunday night TV schedule is going to be a tricky one. With the finale of Downton Abbey and the Killing Lincoln special on NatGeo, as well as my other faves, Revenge and Walking Dead, I am going to have to do some creative DVR-ing. It's a good thing that a lot of these programs will be rerun at various
times.

And it's a good thing I'm not hooked on the Good Wife too!
I'm really looking forward to Killing Lincoln on NatGeo since I read the book by Bill O'Reilly . It stars Billy Campbell as Lincoln and Tom Hanks does the narration. You can watch a trailer and find tons of  info on the program HERE.

I'm not a big fan of Bill O'Reilly,
but Killing Lincoln was a very good, fast paced read.
My friend Sandi and I have been going to lectures with the subject of Abe Lincoln at the Central Lakes College. The first two lectures were given by my ex-boss, Karen DeVries and her husband John. Karen showed examples of Civil War era quilts and talked about the woman's role during the war and John filled in a lot of the history. It was so interesting to see the quilts and quilt blocks tied to that era.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't seen the movie Lincoln, though.

I'm going to work on my hexies while I'm "watching" television Sunday night. I finally have a plan on how I will use them--can't share what it is yet!

I'll be using my newest pin cushion.
How adorable is this felted wool ball that Sandi gave me? I love it--my colors for sure!

  1. I had not read Killing Lincoln until my mom got Killing Kennedy for Christmas. I was with her for the holiday and I picked up the Kennedy book and started reading it. Needless to say, I put it on my Kindle. She already had the Lincoln book and lent it to me. It was really good, too. While I was reading it, I took it to an appointment. While I was in the waiting area reading, a lady near me asked what I was reading. I told her, "Killing Lincoln--a book about his assasination." She responded by saying "Oh. Did they ever catch the people who did it? Because I worry that they will go after Obama next." I was so completely stunned at her stupidity (I hate to be so negative, but really...) I could hardly reply! It took about a minute for me to be able to politely answer that yes, they did catch the people. Wow! Meanwhile, I am also a Downton fan and so thank goodness for the DVR!

By the way, I "borrowed" your inspiration for the Temecula Row quilt and am also using Minick and Simpson. I'm loving it, so thanks! Your Grandma's Choice blocks are lovely!

I love your blocks and didn't get on this when it started, but now I'm thinking that I need to. Your blocks look great!
