Winter Wonderland

With all of the snow we had earlier this week, everything looks fresh and new. The trees are heavily covered with snow and it really is a Winter Wonderland.

I thought it would be a good time to show my Winter Wonderland quilt
since it is pretty much still winter here. I think I made this quilt in 2005 or 2006.

The pattern was designed for Redwork, but I had to do it in blue naturally!

It's difficult to make out in the photos,
but I used tiny cobalt blue crystals in place of the French Knots in the snowflakes.
When I quilted it using white thread, I went over the embroidery. Later, I was a little unhappy with how that looked,
so I  used a blue Pigma pen to color the white thread every where it crossed over the blue embroidery.

In the white areas, I quilted in some snowflakes using iridescent thread.
You can find the pattern here: Crabapple Hill Studio

  1. Love that little quilt! Very smart thinking on the quilting coloring!! I really like it in the blue better than the red--so Wintry. Have a great weekend...hugs, Julierose

  2. I like it done in blue. I have the pattern but have not done one thing towards stitching on it.

  3. A girl after my own heart. I love the blue.

  4. WOW ... what a beautiful quilt !

  5. I love this quilt and have always wanted to make it.
It just makes me smile. I love the winter and snow but this year I am just over storms of any kind so looking forward to spring.
our snow melted finally with the warm weekend we had
