Another Week Almost Over??

Something happened--this week disappeared!

 I have had my nose buried in machine quilting, and I guess I'm making progress--but it's hard to tell! 

Since I can't show my progress on that, this is something else I've been working on:
I will be teaching a class for this coin purse at Colorz next Wednesday.
 It's the perfect size for all those quilt shop punch cards we accumulate....
 or other special little treasures!

I used French General fabrics--a linen blend on the outside and a cotton print for the lining.

 The linen fabric was embellished with embroidery before sewing the body of the coin purse, and  part of the class will be learning to do the beading on the frame.
I think it's going to be a fun class!

Scrappy Tuesday

I haven't made a lot of progress on my ThimbleCreek mystery stars---I still have 10 to go before I can start on today's clue (more checkerboard pieces!).

However, I have done some machine quilting, attended our May guild meeting, had a mammogram and grocery shopped, so I haven't been idle!

I am really scrounging for fabrics. I've pretty much used up the original fabrics I had pulled from my stash, so every week I have been adding new prints.
 That's okay--the scrappier, the better!

My new ironing pressing station!
I picked up this cart at Sam's Club a couple weeks ago, but hadn't had a chance  was too lazy to put it together.
My youngest son got it set up for me on Mother's Day.  

 The center shelf is adjustable, so we made sure there was room for my gallon jugs of Best Press and starch, etc.
I love it!

More Wooly Stitching

Happy Mother's Day!
It's been a little over a year since my mother passed away and I was thinking this morning how, on most every Mother's Day, my Mom and I would visit the local garden nursery for our summer plants.
She would always buy me a geranium because I am a Mom too.
 
 I need to get my Stitching Society wool hexagons up on the design wall and figure out a setting soon. Hopefully I will get to that sometime this week.
In the meantime, I've been stitching Sophie's Garden:

The last two applique blocks for Sophie's Garden have been finished, so they will be needing the design wall soon too. I hope to get the blocks sewn together by the next Stitch Therapy meeting later this month.

I'm not in danger of running out of evening stitching though!
 I am so happy to get back to this project.

A Little Progress

There's not much to report on my  May UFO.

I'm not completely procrastinating--I have it mounted on my machine and have wound lots of bobbins!

In the meantime, I started on part 10 of the ThimbleCreek mystery.
One star down....

twenty one to go.
 I have all the flying geese components finished, so it won't take long to stitch these up. 

I just finished the April block for the Buttermilk Basin mystery too.
I went a little heavy on the buttons.

Yikes--it's May!

I should be piecing the backing for my May UFO but, as usual (for me), I am finding lots of ways to procrastinate!

This is going to be my May UFO, Sunflower Gatherings.
I have it registered for our guild quilt show in June, so I need to get it finished ASAP.

So instead, I worked on clue 9 for the ThimbleCreek mystery.
I knew there would be checkerboards involved--that's how Joe rolls (see HERE and HERE)
I just didn't think they would be so small!

I finished one more wool applique block for Sophie's Garden.
That means there's only one more to go!

Lazy Sunday

Today I have no plans other than to enjoy the glorious sunshine! We had a lot of rain over night and this morning the breezes from outdoors smells like SPRING! Our trees are just starting to bud out and the red winged blackbirds are making a lot of racket. Of course, it's not really spring at our house until the orioles return, which should be any day.

 I have their grape jelly ready and waiting!

I've been a bit lax on showing my Sophie's Garden progress.
I'm getting pretty close to the end.

I've been keeping the embroidery pretty simplistic on most of the blocks, but I got a little ambitious and spiced things up a bit on the tulips. 

Tonight I will be stitching on this block during Game of Thrones.
I'm behind one episode of Mr. Selfridge, so I will put him on the DVR -- I need to catch up in order!

Quilt Camp Sewing

When I go on a retreat, I seem to think that I can get way more done than is realistically possible--but I wouldn't want to run out of things to sew! 

My main goal was to use some of my four patches I received in a recent swap.
I used 100 of them for this pattern: Worn and Loved II--a free pattern on the Windham site.
Since I was starting with 3" finished 4 patches, my quilt is much smaller than the pattern. 

I had this border print in my stash--I think it worked out okay. 

 I  used 168 four patches for this one--also a free pattern on the Windham site: Country Sampler. Again, my version is smaller as I used 3" finished four patches instead of 4" four patches.
I'm not sure if I will add a border or just bind it with a scrappy binding--it's a nice throw size right now. 

Just for fun, I matched the top four patch color to the bottom patch color in each row (well, except for the row I sewed on backwards--it's a Where's Waldo row now!). 

I still have plenty of four patches left--no ideas yet for these!

I didn't make a lot of progress on my Devil's Claw blocks.
 I seemed to have a lot of issues with my Bernina and was wishing I had my Juki with me--much more fun to sew on!
