Cakestand Update

By now you have probably seen the setting options for the tiny Cake Stand basket challenge blocks from Temecula Quilt Company
In case you missed them, see the three setting options HERE.
If you missed the pattern for the blocks, you can find it HERE

I had to make one more cake stand since this setting required 32 blocks.
Actually, I had to make 2 more because I temporarily lost one of my original blocks.
Now I have one for the back.

I chose option two, because I wanted my little baskets to stand upright.
Option three just didn't grab me, although I would have liked a larger quilt.

I thought about doing the scallop border shown on option one, but I think it may detract from this setting. And since I have so many irons in the fire, I am ready to call this one done.
On the design wall with some 8 1/2" blocks.
I may do a little testing though, because the scallops are tempting me!

The reason I had room on the design wall?
A little storm came through yesterday and blew most of my Grandmother's Choice blocks down with a whoosh!
I had been so careful to keep them in order for the last 49 weeks.
Oh well.

  1. I'm sorry your blocks fell off the wall. Your basket quilt is awesome, though! I knew I would like that setting if my cake stands were "color controlled" like yours. Brilliant!

  2. I like the fabric you chose for the corner stones, it really sets the blocks off. Thanks for showing the little quilt next to the 8 1/2 blocks to give us some perspective. Adorable.

  3. I was wondering which setting you would choose. I liked all 3 and wish I had joined in. Your version is lovely!! Those little cake stands are so cute and tiny :0)

  4. That looks beautiful - lovely setting version. And the blocks look so small against the 8 1/2 inch "monsters" next to them!

  5. Very nice! I'm leaning towards this layout too, you have been inspirational today ~

  6. Oh gosh how small it looks against the other blocks, great way to give us a feeling how tiny these blocks are. Love the way you have used so many back ground fabrics this wee quilt is going to make some one very very happy. Blue and WHite are my favourite colours. How frustrating but at least you have a photo to help you put them back up on the wall how you had them. Thanks for sharing . Glenda Australia.

  7. WoW!! Those tiny baskets are so cool. :D
