July Goals Met!

My One Monthly Goal quilt is complete.
I didn't intend to rotate the orientation of the Schoolgirl Puzzle blocks, but about half way though adding the triangles around the blocks, I realized I had turned the directional fabric on some of the them. In the end, I'm liking the way it turned out. Sometimes big boo-boos become happy accidents!
There is a small flower in the light blue check that needs to be face up--lol!

The back is a very nice quality, wide muslin from a donation to one of our sewing groups. I like the way it shows off the  Easy Orange Peel pantograph I used for the quilting. Because of the light back, I used a cream colored thread to do the quilting.

Scrappy binding.
I have a small stash of QOV labels so this quilt is ready to go!

A little traditional, a little funky!

That stack of cut blocks I showed in a previous post has all been sewn.

My favorite and least favorite blocks of the group.
Sail Away: favorite because it's cute. Drum: least favorite because of those skinny quarter inch pieces.

And then this happened--15 more blocks!
Only 17 left to go--yay!!!!

  2. I love it when boo boos make us happy. The quilt is sweet especially with all the flowers pointing skyward. Someone will find it a treasure.

  3. My first thought when I saw this quilt was how pleased I was to see that you'd alternated the direction of the blocks. I just love it! What a beautiful finish. Well done to finish it for your monthly goal, too.

  4. Your puzzle quilt looks great with the rotated blocks - congrats! The boat block is my favourite too, probably because of that yellow fabric :)

  5. Congratulations! Your Puzzle quilt is terrific. I think turning the blocks makes the quilt much more interesting. And, your little label is darling. Did you design it or is available on line somewhere?

  6. I like your "mistake" . The orientation of the blocks lead the viewer's eye around the quilt, making it more interesting. Great colors, too. Good on meeting your goals, Karen!

  14. A wonderful finish for those blocks! I like the way they turn, and no one will ever notice the flower isn't oriented correctly. Who can even see it? =)
