November Bonus

I couldn't resist getting my Temecula Quilt Company "Secret Santa" top quilted.
I used the same meander pantograph that I used for my 4" x 5" Anthology quilt.
.
I don't do a lot of Christmas decorating anymore, but this quilt will be a little spot of holiday cheer on the sofa--so cute! I should have made a Burgoyne Surrounded quilt a long time ago....
no half square triangles to square up, mostly strip piecing, and scrappy--what's not to love?!?

It looks like there are a lot of pieces in each block, but most of it is done with strip piecing (instructions HERE) and goes together super fast.

For the backing, I used a Judie Rothermel black and cream piece (that I've had in my stash for a while) since all my background fabrics in the quilt are lights with black prints. I think I purchased this fabric as a background for an applique project. I have no idea what that project was at this point, so I'm happy to use it up on the back.
With a little luck, I may get a third quilt finished before December. I'm determined to clear my design wall before the new year!

  2. This was a fun bonus quilt. This pattern has been on my radar for years. I've decided that this is the year now that I know it was a pretty easy pattern. Lots of work, though. All those fabrics you used are lovely together. I dug out some long ago forgotten fabric for the backing as well. It's a wonderful holiday finish.

  3. Wow--absolutely adorable! Great job, Karen!
I have a red/white mini of this in process that has been on the shelf for a couple of years. This makes me want to pull it out.
I think I do way too much decorating for Christmas. I love it once it is done, but it takes a lot of time!

  5. Beautiful finish, and nice to have it useable so quickly! All my blocks are done but I have to finish a few Christmas gifts before I sew for myself. Temecula Quilts really did a fantastic job of making this block sew up quicker than I expected.

  6. It's gorgeous! And so tempting to make, even though I've got a full-sized Burgoyne top in my WIP box waiting for a border. (My resolve to skip this one is crumbling...)

  7. Love your Secret Santa quilt! I've decided to add 4 more blocks to mine to make it a square top, then add green 'tree' blocks for a border. Hopefully it will fit the queen bed when I'm done and be a great Christmas season quilt. I've fallen in love with this pattern!

  9. Beautiful christmas quilt! Classic design. I don't think of that pattern as simple. Love the scrappy backgrounds. I would have gone with green binding too - looks great!

  13. You're right - what's not to love?! I have seen a couple of these Temecula Christmas Burgoynes - enough to inspire thoughts of making my own (even though I currently have a rainbow BS underway). Beautiful finish!

  14. I keep seeing these quilts around the quilt blogging world and love them. It's interesting to see how individual they look even though they use basically the same colors. Yours is gorgeous and it's amazing you already have it quilted and finished. Well done, Karen!
