April Goal....

A new month, a new goal.
I have two quilt retreats that I am attending later this month, so my One Monthly Goal is going to an easy one.
I like my Foothills top so much that I decided to add two more rows to make it more usable. I had to order a little more of my sashing fabric to have enough for the new rows. Then I decided I would add a border, so I had to order even more..this time a ordered a lot more--just in case--lol!
I'm making this quilt my One Monthly Goal so I will be motivated to get it completed this month.

In the spirit of the original quilt, I have a few "make-do" blocks using my some of my extra flying goose units. I think it adds a lot of interest!

I've also had to do a little "make-do" fabric making when I have my heart set on using a specific fabric. Actually, I do this a lot and it seems no on is the wiser once the quilt is finished.

I think you can see it better here....

...but not so much here...

...or even closer--unless you are looking for it!

I think this one is even more "make-do" than any of the other blocks.
What do you think? Do you "make-do"?

  1. I've done some of those 'make do' to get my scraps into the shape I need. I always think of my grandmother when I do something like that. She quilted with very few resources.

  2. I love your make-do sewing. It adds such character and interest. The colors you've chosen for this project are wonderful. You've used lots of a fabrics but they are perfect together. This will be an easy finish for you.

J'adore le choix de tes tissus et ce qui me plait aussi c'est que parfois tu montres l'envers de ton ouvrage et cela me permet de voir comment repasser les coutures.
J'ai hâte de voir ton ouvrage assemblé.

  7. Great blocks. The pattern is very primitive. Yes, I do "make-do" blocks sometimes.

  8. I agree. I think those make do blocks add character and look like they should be there all along.

  15. Your Foothills quilt will be stunning. I would not have noticed your "make do" blocks or fabrics. They just fit into the rest so well!

  16. Great quilt. I like your britches blocks, too. Willow is cute! I can see why you've been distracted.
