Log Cabin Progress

Even though I have 20 plus UFO's on my to-do list, here I am working on something completely new--yeesh!
My excuse is that I am using up scraps--and it's just refreshing to start something completely new!
These are the 16 blocks for the February Log Cabin Quilt-a-Long by Bea and Cecile.

This isn't the final lay-out for my Idaho Square Dance.
Just for fun I thought I would surround the log cabins with the alternate blocks that I have made so far.
You can see how my quilt will be laid out HERE--it's the cover quilt on Bonnie Hunter's latest book.

Someday, it may be fun to make a quilt with just the Square Dance blocks--they've been good for stash busting, as have the log cabin blocks!

  1. That is going to be a great quilt - I like to play with blocks too :0) I always say if you make something with fabric you already had in your house it doesn't really count as somethings new.

  2. I like Janet's philosophy that if it's from the stash it's not new. It's fun to sort through the stash and work on something fresh

  4. This will be nice, with the darker log cabin blocks. I think the pattern will read a little better. Looking good!

  5. Glad to hear someone else has a closet full of quilt tops in the queue. I have over twenty also and I keep trying to get that number down into the teens. And I am diligently hand quilting the tops. But, as I finish one - I seem to have two more to store in the closet.

  8. I think using up scraps is a great excuse to start something new. It definitely works for me. The log cabin blocks are great in blue.

  13. A new project! I think there will be more people that are working on UFO's doing the same thing. It gets the juices flowing. Do you keep adding to your blue stash? You use a lot of blues (which I like very much) and wonder how many you have to play with.
