Catching Up and May UFO hopeful...

My May UFO One Monthly Goal candidate:
Devil's Claw!
One of my goals at Quilt Camp was to get my Devil's Claw blocks sewn together. I was kind of dreading it because of all the matching that would need to be done, but it went together without too much trouble. Thankfully, the way the blocks were pressed on the back made them nestle together very nicely! Now if I can get the backing sewn up (using chunks of my Kim Diehl stash) and the binding made (blue, of course!) this will be put on the quilting machine ASAP.
I think just an edge to edge design will be best for this one--it's so busy, I don't think anything fancy would show up--what do you think?

I'm supposed to keep my leg "still" while it heals, so that rules out my walks and gives me lots more time to sit at the machine and sew! These are the Clue Nine blocks for the ThimbleCreek mystery.

And these are the Clue Ten blocks! We're done!
Now the wait for the finishing instructions begins--maybe there will be checkerboards???
It's going to be hard to wait to see the solution to this mystery!

My little Temecula Circa 2016 blocks are up finally up to date.
I love the tiny churn dash blocks--a whole quilt of the them would be very cute....hmmm...

I'm really loving the Let It Snow blocks from Buttermilk Basin.
They have been a lot of fun to stitch and it's hard to wait a whole month for the next block!
Another finish from my 2016 Finish-A-Long list:
 My little Temecula Summer InstaSewalong--yay!
I had started hand quilting it and was forced to give up on that idea when my wrist told me to stop (seeing the doc on Wed. for a cortisone injection!). I really wanted to get this one finished so I could use it on my bedside table,
The machine stitching between each row was done with silk thread--it's pretty much invisible and gives each row a little puff. This was on my list of 2Q Finish-A-Long, so I'm making a little more progress on those goals.

Now to catch up on the 365 Challenge blocks--yes, I've fallen behind again...

  1. I've made Devil's Claw blocks for a birthday block exchange, but those were single blocks sent to several recipients. I've never made a whole set for myself. I really like the way yours look! And, yes, an overall pattern would be just fine considering how busy the blocks are.

  2. Wow Karen, you've been busy, and what beautiful quilts! I agree on overall quilting, I wonder how Baptist Fan would look? I like your idea of a mini churndash quilt - hmmm....

  3. That Devil's Claw is stunning! Such gorgeous color playing in those blocks.
And all your 'alongs' look great, too. I've been saving patterns from several of them, but haven't started. The fact that I'm behind again on the 365 Challenge shows why I *shouldn't* start any more, no matter how much I want to!

  5. Love the Devil's Claw! It is very busy but I think that's great. Any specific quilt pattern will probably not show up, you are right there. And you finished so much else. The Temecula Quilt Co. hexiequilt is adorable, cannot imagaine how one would do that with a machine. Congratulations with lovely finishes!

  6. Great finishes!!! I would probably do a baptist fan pattern. It would settle it down nicely.

  8. I don't think I would have had the same luck as you with having all the pressed seams going the correct way so they would nest.

  9. Wow! Lots of quilty goodness in this post! I love your Devil's Claw top! With my luck the seams would not have been going the right direction. lol I really like the clue nine blocks. Hope your knee continues to improve.

  10. Yep, I'd go for an overall design on that one. Custom work wouldn't show well enough to make it worth it, IMHO.
I love all of your projects, but I have to say your stitching on the BB blocks is stellar!

  11. Your Devil's Claw is spectacular! I think you're spot on with a plain and simple binding to pull it all together. I'm not surprised you're behind with the circles, you've got a lot going on there...now, what's my excuse?!?!

  13. The devil's claw is fantastic with all those colors and patterns having fun together. Having it go together so easily reminds us of the importance of pressing. TC blocks look great as well as all of your sew alongs. The mini hexie finish is super cute and quilting it with the silk thread was a perfect solution. Any tricks for doing that?
